« Françoise Collin, Les Cahiers du Grif and insurrectional feminism: the virtues and challenges of a praxis-based philosophy » - par Teresa Hoogeveen
Teresa Hoogeveen is PhD candidate in Philosophy at the Universitat de Barcelona with a dissertation on Françoise Collin and her concept of difference of the sexes. She has been member of the Seminar Gender and Philosophy–ADHUC since 2016 and is currently expanding her research on Françoise Collin and Les Cahiers du Grif as a visiting researcher in CASPER (under the supervision of Véronique Degraef.)
“Françoise Collin was a philosopher, a writer, and a prominent figure within European feminism from the 1970s until her death in 2012. In this presentation, I will concentrate primarily on answering a set of questions related to my research and its place within philosophical thought, the history of philosophy and today’s feminist currents. The questions that will structure my presentation are the following: why did I choose Belgian philosopher Françoise Collin for my doctoral thesis? Why do I specifically focus on her definition of “la différence des sexes”? What is the interest of Les Cahiers du Grif (1973-1996)? Finally, and to approach one of my biggest concerns in relation to my thesis: can my thesis be interesting in our current context, and what are my concerns when it comes to its reception?”
